I was in Hebrews 4 reading about rest.
Hebrews 4:11
Let us therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
And then my eye went to the footnote leading me to Psalm 95, and there it was in the Student Bible notes (NIV) with the header, “Rebellion”.
“In the New Testament, Hebrews 4:1-13 argues that ‘God’s rest’ means not merely the promised land of Israel, but a state of peaceful unity with God. The warning still applies.”
Wait, what? Wow! It is so simple. There is so much simplicity in that and yet it is so big. Is this what faith like a child means? And is this the faith in Hebrews?
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Believe. Choosing daily to believe you Lord, believing who you say you are and how much you say you love me. Choosing today to speak truth, believe truth and walk in truth. You have me covered. I have absolutely no idea what that looks like but I know you are with me. The cares of the world, the circumstances are not the solid ground, you are.
So unlike many, I am choosing REST, which is a state of peaceful unity with God, which is be still and know you are God, which is more than my natural mind can handle because it is so NOT do, fix, think, process, worry, be anxious – instead it is be still and know that I am God.
Yes, Lord. This is really big to you because everything hinges on a state of peaceful unity with God. That is the really big deal. Today, help me to keep my choices firm in you, in peaceful unity with you Lord.
