I realize it is probably worth mentioning that most of my conversations with God start after I’ve been journaling for a bit. I often start my writing with a recap of my previous day, moments that mattered, feelings I’m having, places I’m feeling out of sorts or stuck, my to do list for the day, my praise and thankfulness and of course, inviting God into it all. There isn’t a recipe or certain way for me, but often the conversations I will share with you start after I’ve been with the Lord for some of this journaling time and I begin to sense a shift. The activity changes from my words on paper and becomes an exchange or conversation as I call it.
The other thing I want to share is most of the scriptures come from Holy Spirit. Often God will “say” something and it either reminds me of a scripture which I include or Holy Spirit will lead me to scripture. Sometimes it is just a book with a chapter. Holy Spirit guides me to the place or places the Lord is highlighting. I don’t get nervous if it doesn’t make sense to me and I have on more than one occasion gone to the “wrong” book or chapter and been overwhelmingly blessed as Holy Spirit guides me.
The less I’m thinking, the easier it is to enter into this holy place. I do not yearn for the voice or try hard or strive. The most wonderful times are when God just “speaks” and I just write as fast as I can. I don’t edit. I don’t think. I don’t anything. I just write as fast as He speaks and listen closely. He hears my heart and He often responds to my “thinking” as I am writing and listening. It’s just the way we are together.
Beth (B) – jumble, breathing. Watching Lord – I am expecting – BIG, Extravagant, wonderful GOD and seeing you in BIG ways – Thank you Lord.
God (G) – How big I AM – that is the place to stay/keep focused. I AM – wholly holy, full of love and care and creative plans and times and places – it is all for you my sweet girl and it is true – truly, and I am for you and for you ALL – I AM!
B – Trusting again – choosing trusting over any other response – trusting ‘be still and know that I am God’ – trusting you – your way – your Spirit – your effort. My agreement that I AM is for me – Lord – Thank you. In every way, every choice – choosing you – choosing truth – love, wisdom from you – Thank you Lord.
Psalm 13: 5-6
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for he has been good to me.
Psalm 130:5-6
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Psalm 103:17-18
But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children – with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
