It was our regular walking route. An occasional break during lunch that we could catch up and share and synch hearts with you. We had done a loop and decided as we neared the “end” we would do one more shorter loop. A reminder again that you know all, you see all, you hear all. You knew exactly what our hearts needed. I started to hear it and slowly my conscious mind heard the familiar tune by bagpipes. Bagpipes? We were near a parking lot in a commercial business area and I was thinking I was hearing a car stereo playing. Someone must be sitting in their car listening during their lunch break. And then, still wondering and trying to find the sound, we rounded the corner and saw him.
An elderly man was standing on the sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot, facing the street we had turned to walk up. This elderly man was standing on the sidewalk across the street from us playing Amazing Grace with perfection on his bagpipes. What? I almost immediately was blasted by your truth. Our every bit, our every feeling, our every thought, was covered by your Amazing Grace. That was what we needed the very most, your amazing grace. We were overwhelmed. As I walked by, I threw kisses at the elderly man. Who was he? We had never experienced this before on our route. As we passed, he began to play another broken tune. It wasn’t beautiful. It was sounds. What had happened?
You showed up for us when we needed you in the way we needed you. Sharing the experience with people was flat. It wasn’t for anyone else but us. Some things you give us to share. The testimony is rich. The blessings multiply. And some things are just for me. Amazing Grace on the sidewalk played by an elderly man on bagpipes, that was personal. We wondered aloud, had that been an angel? We never saw him before and we haven’t seen him since. Wow Lord. Your way. It is beautiful, unexpected, unique, personal and full of your heart of love for me. Thank you for your amazing grace.
