So Lord, what does standing on the rock look like?
Deuteronomy 33:12 About Benjamin he said: “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”
Deuteronomy 33:26 -29 “There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’ So Israel will live in safety alone; Jacob’s spring is secure in a land of grain and new wine, where the heavens drop dew. Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will trample down their high places.”
So back to what does standing on the rock look like?
Deuteronomy 32:1-4 The Song of Moses
Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants. I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Psalm 18: 1-6 I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.
18:30-36 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden my path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.
Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Going through Psalms pricks my heart and yet it is so rich. Somehow the place I am in yearns and yet is strong. Lord, help me see you, your face. I want more. I need more. Help me blast free of lies and be immersed in truth. I wiggle and squirm instead of settling in. I wonder on tasks instead of resting. I think on cleaning, ordering, doing, instead of just being. Help me, Lord.
I feel stern and heavy instead of my burden is light, my yoke is easy. Joyful and peaceful is what I long for. Lord your way. This space is yours. I see gloom, heavy, dirt, old, you see what? Blessing, covering, more than enough, in hope flourishing. Aghast – ? Feeling unfinished and yet compulsion to vacuum.
